Following day two of the NHL Board of Governors meetings in Florida, commissioner Gary Bettman met with reporters and mentioned that he will be meeting with Quebec Premier Francois Legeault and his government next month.
Bettman also reiterated to reporters that the league has no plans to expand or relocate any teams at this time.
"I spoke with [Mr. Bettman], and we have meetings with him in the coming months," Legault said last month.
Legault added, "You have to look at who is ready to invest. We have an amphitheater in Quebec that has already been built. We are in the process of making contacts with Mr. Bettman. We are looking at what we need to bring back the Nordiques. I think we are capable of having a second team in Quebec."
It's been twenty-six years since the Quebec Nordiques left for Denver, Colorado to become the Avalanche. It's unclear what will come of the meeting between Bettman and the Quebec government, but if an expansion franchise or relocation are out of the question, what will they discuss during this meeting?
