Back in January, Malcolm Subban was challenging for the number one goaltender job with the Chicago Blackhawks, but now he's just another goalie who is stuck in the AHL. Currently, he is playing with the Rockford IceHogs.

After the team acquired Marc-Andre Fleury, Subban found himself to be the odd-man out, since Kevin Lankinen had already locked down the backup goaltending role. Subban appeared in 16 games for the Hawks last season, and he is trying to find himself on an NHL roster somehow.

The soon to be 28-year-old has been brought up in trade rumors and it looks like a trade has been worked out. According to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Buffalo Sabres have acquired Subban from the Blackhawks for future considerations.

The Sabres have been searching for a goaltender for quite some time, as their top two are currently Dustin Tokarski and Aaron Dell, as Craig Anderson is on the team's injured reserve with recently acquired forward Alex Tuch.

The return for Subban likely will not be a ton even when it is worked out.
