While it was a busy off-season off the ice and a fresh start for the city of Utica, the Comets have had a record start to the 2021-22 campaign.
With Friday night's win against the Charlotte Checkers, the Comets became the first team in American Hockey League history to begin a season with twelve consecutive wins. The previous mark of eleven straight wins was set by the Rochester Americans back in the 1984-85 season.
"We've done it! #ANewEra begins with the longest win streak to start a season in @TheAHL history. 12-0! Back here tomorrow for more." The team said on their Twitter account following the game.
Utica will look to extend their winning streak Saturday night when they take on their rivals, the Rochester Americans.
