Capitals sign forward Nic Dowd to multi-year extension

The Washington Capitals announced on Sunday afternoon that they've agreed to terms on a three-year contract extension worth $3.9 million ($1.3 million AAV) with forward Nic Dowd.

Dowd, 31, originally joined the Capitals as a free agent back on July 1st 2018. He's in the final year of a three-year contract he signed with the Capitals back in April 2019. Dowd was set to become an unrestricted free agent in July 2022.

The Huntsville, Alabama native has spent parts of seven seasons in the NHL with the Los Angeles Kings, Vancouver Canucks, and Washington Capitals. In 316 career games, Dowd has 79 points (36 G, 43 A), 138 penalty minutes, and is a plus-one.
