Montreal has a date for Carey Price's return

After taking time away from the Montreal Canadiens in order to enter the NHL's Player Assistance program, we now know when goaltender Carey Price will return to the team.

Habs head coach Dominique Ducharme told members of the media Friday that Price will be back with the team on Monday. Friday marks exactly 30 days since he entered the program for reasons that aren't exactly clear.

While Price will be back with the Canadiens Monday, it's not known yet when he'll officially be between the pipes again.

"To be clear, the Canadiens won't have any idea what condition Price is in physically until he returns," said The Athletic's Arpon Basu. "They need to see how his knee is doing and where his conditioning is at before figuring out a plan for his return to play."

Price had knee surgery during the offseason after being a huge factor in Montreal's run to the Stanley Cup Final in 2020-21.

While I'm sure the team will be happy to have Price back in the fold, he's not exactly coming back to a happy environment. Montreal has looked absolutely lost without the leadership presence of Price and defenceman Shea Weber. The Canadiens are currently dead last in the Atlantic division with a record of 3-9-0.
