The Ottawa Senators announced on Friday morning that they have named Brady Tkachuk their new captain, making him their tenth captain in franchise history.

Tkachuk, 22, wasn't with his team to begin the 2021-22 season as he was without a contract until Oct. 14. On that day, he and the Senators agreed to a massive seven-year, $57.5 million deal. Had that deal been worked out in the summer, he likely would have been given the 'C' in training camp this year.

This decision comes as no surprise, as Tkachuk is the main leader of a very talented young Sens team. Though they likely won't be a threat this season, they have a chance to turn into serious contenders just a few years down the road.
