Much has been about the decisions, or lack thereof, of NHLPA executive director Don Fehr, who was reportedly aware of the Kyle Beach situation at the time it happened yet failed to do anything about it.

According to an anonymous NHL veteran, many players throughout the league were very upset with the way the situation was handled at the time, and on Monday the NHLPA released a statement regarding Beach and the response by the union.

"On the NHLPA's Executive Board call today, Don Fehr recommended that an independent investigation be commenced by outside legal counsel in order to review the NHLPA's response to the Kyle Beach matter. The Executive Board is currently voting on this matter."

According to ESPN's Emily Kaplan, the voting will likely finish Tuesday as some players participating in the call had to leave for their Monday games. The call featured roughly 80 players and lasted over two hours, with the focus being on how the NHLPA handled the sexual assault allegations Beach made known about former Chicago Blackhawks video coach Brad Aldrich.
