The Devils are now on Dylan Larkin's expanded list of acceptable destinations, according to Jeff Marek.

“The expanded Dylan Larkin list has New Jersey on it now,” Marek said on The Sheet.

“I don't think they have the assets they're willing to move to make that happen,” David Pagnotta said after checking with a couple of people.

Pagnotta's point is hard to argue with. New Jersey just sent Dawson Mercer and its first-round pick from June, Alexander Command, to Winnipeg for Connor Hellebuyck.

It's like getting invited to the auction right after spending your savings on a new car.

Winnipeg also got Nick Bjugstad, Nico Daws and two picks in that deal, according to La Presse.

Larkin has 5 points on an $8,700,000 cap hit this season.

Jeff Marek: The expanded Dylan Larkin list has New Jersey on it now...

David Pagnotta: Yeah, and I asked a couple people about that; I don't think they have the assets they're willing to move to make that happen

David Pagnotta doubts New Jersey has the assets to get it done

Darren Dreger has reported Detroit wants two top prospects, a forward who can help right away and a first-round pick.

Marek and Pagnotta both said earlier this week that Minnesota remains Larkin's destination of preference.

John Buccigross said Tuesday he expects a Larkin trade within seven to 10 days.

New Jersey already carries Luke Hughes at $9,000,000 and Timo Meier at $8,800,000.

Hellebuyck's $8,500,000 cap hit now sits on the books too.

The Devils are 6-4-0 and host Los Angeles this afternoon in New Jersey.

Jack Hughes leads them with 11 points, while Nico Hischier has 5 goals.

Four of Hischier's goals have come on the power play.

New Jersey is 5-2-0 at home but just 1-2-0 on the road.

Detroit is 4-3-3 and visits Calgary tonight, then Edmonton on Monday.

Alex DeBrincat leads the Red Wings with 12 points so far.

Montreal still isn't believed to be on the list, according to Dreger.

Shawn Horcoff can now add another name to a list that keeps growing.

Would Sunny Mehta really go back to the trade well twice in one week?

New Jersey made the list. Making the deal is a much bigger ask after the week the Devils just had.
