Elliotte Friedman doesn't believe Simon Edvinsson has changed his mind about not signing in Detroit, which keeps the Red Wings' trade door wide open.
“At this point in time I don't think Simon Edvinsson has changed his mind about not signing in Detroit,” Friedman said on NHL Now.
David Pagnotta has reported the defenseman wants around $11 million per season over seven years.
Detroit is running out of road here. If he won't sign, Shawn Horcoff has to sell before the price starts dropping.
It's like a tenant who has already told you he's moving out. You can keep collecting rent, but he has one foot out the door.
Horcoff has said he has no intention of trading him, though Pierre LeBrun believes a deal remains possible. He also reported earlier this month that 10 teams had poked around.
Friedman has previously said the defenseman's preference is still a trade.
