Devon Levi looked fast asleep in his crease during a goal review, and the Oilers goalie gave social media a good laugh.

While officials reviewed the call, Levi waited in the blue paint with his eyes closed, looking for all the world like he'd dozed off.

The goal stood anyway. The clip made the rounds online, mostly because of how calm he looked in the middle of it.

It's like a student dozing off during a pop quiz he already knows he aced.

And the calm isn't an act. Levi has won four of his five games this season and given Edmonton a steady presence behind a high-flying group.

The 24-year-old carries just an $812,500 cap hit, which makes those wins look even better.

He should be Mike Babcock's starter right now. Tristan Jarry has been fine, but Levi has simply been better.

Tristan Jarry is losing the crease battle to a cheaper kid

Jarry sits at .873 through three games. Levi is at .898, the stronger number of the two.

The veteran also carries a $5,375,000 cap hit, a lot of money to have sitting behind a goalie making a fraction of that.

It helps to have Connor McDavid in front of you, and he has 23 points through eight games.

Edmonton is 6-1-1 and perfect on the road at 5-0-0.

The Oilers are scoring at a rate of 5.0 goals per game, which gives any goalie room to breathe.

Stan Bowman built this roster to contend, and a reliable crease is the piece that decides how far it goes.

So is the job his? The results are starting to make that decision for Babcock.

Carolina visits Thursday, and Toronto comes to town Saturday. That's a real test of whether the kid can stay this relaxed against heavier traffic.

If Levi keeps winning, nobody will care whether he naps during reviews. Jarry might be the one losing sleep.
