Dylan Larkin has expanded his trade list to 10 teams, and the Red Wings just got a much bigger market to work with.

Helene St. James reported the new list: Florida, Minnesota, Vegas, Dallas, Washington, Carolina, Utah, Tampa Bay, New Jersey and Colorado.

Three names are new. Carolina, Utah and New Jersey join the seven clubs that were reportedly on his list before.

That matters because the old list was packed with contenders that lacked the assets Shawn Horcoff wants.

Detroit's reported ask is steep: two A-quality prospects, a top-nine NHL forward and a first-round pick.

This is the right move, and it should have come sooner. A bigger list helps Larkin get out and helps Detroit get paid.

Going from seven doors to 10 is like a seller finally taking down the “cash only” sign. More buyers walk in, and the price stops being a fantasy.

Carolina, Utah and New Jersey change Shawn Horcoff's math

Carolina is the heavyweight. The Hurricanes are 7-2-1, first in the Metropolitan, and Eric Tulsky has already been linked to the Connor Hellebuyck talks.

Utah might be the most intriguing fit. The Mammoth lead the Central at 7-3-0 after beating Pittsburgh on Monday.

Bill Armstrong's front office has a reputation for grinding in trade talks, so Horcoff shouldn't expect a quick yes.

New Jersey is the wild card. The Devils are 4-4-0 and fifth in the Metropolitan, so Tom Fitzgerald would be buying to push, not to polish.

Toronto still isn't on it. Neither is anyone in the Atlantic beyond Florida and Tampa Bay.

On the ice, Larkin has one point over his last five games. His $8,700,000 cap hit hasn't gotten any lighter either.

Detroit is 3-3-2 and last in the Atlantic, opening a four-game road trip tonight in Seattle.

Does a bigger list finally break the logjam? It gives Horcoff three new phones to call, and only so many days to call them.

John Buccigross put the window at 7 to 10 days last Friday. With 10 teams now in play, that clock just got a lot more believable.
