The Stars have placed Harrison Scott on waivers, while Flyers defenseman Helge Grans has cleared, according to Elliotte Friedman.

Philadelphia put Grans on waivers on Oct. 12, and no team put in a claim.

The 24-year-old has dressed once this season on an $837,500 cap hit.

Waivers this time of year work like a lost-and-found box. Teams glance in, but most of what's inside stays right where it is.

Scott has yet to appear in a Dallas game this season.

Glen Gulutzan has leaned on a stable group, with all six of his regular defensemen dressing in every game so far.

The Stars are 2-2-1 and have allowed just 8 goals.

Nine Flyers defensemen have dressed already, and Grans was the odd man out

Travis Sanheim, Nick Seeler, Rasmus Ristolainen, David Jiricek, Oliver Bonk, Grans, Cam York, Simon Benoit and Jamie Drysdale have all taken a turn.

Philadelphia has bodies on the back end. Getting results out of them is the real problem.

Sanheim sits at -10, and York is at -6.

Bonk, recalled over the weekend, went -3 in his first game of the season.

The Flyers made room for Bonk by placing Travis Konecny on IR.

They are 0-5-2 and have allowed 28 goals.

Philadelphia has scored only 8, so the defense isn't getting much help from the other end either.

Rick Tocchet has shuffled his pairs plenty already, and Grans got only one look.

Grans stays in the organization for now, and he'll have to wait for another opening on a crowded blue line.

Does anybody put in a claim on Scott?

Miro Heiskanen and Thomas Harley lead the Dallas blue line, while Esa Lindell sits at +4.

Mikko Rantanen leads the Stars with 6 points up front.

Dallas hosts Colorado tonight with Cale Makar missing from the other side, then the two teams meet again in Denver tomorrow.

Philadelphia hosts Seattle tonight, still chasing its first win of the season. The Kraken arrive at 4-2-0.

Waiver moves rarely make headlines in October. In Philadelphia, though, every roster move is starting to look like a search party.
