The Winnipeg Jets could be the first team to experience an actual COVID-19 outbreak this season, as DFO's Frank Seravalli is reporting that the team is currently awaiting lab results and are expecting more players to enter COVID-19 protocol on Thursday.

The news comes just a day after Jets captain Blake Wheeler tested positive for the virus and experiencing symptoms. Wheeler had originally been placed in COVID-19 protocol on Monday.

While several individual players on different teams have tested positive for the virus this season, the situation in Winnipeg is a bit more concerning, given that there could be multiple players and extensive contact tracing involved.

The obvious implications for the team and the league here could involve the postponement of games if the situation requires it, but for now we'll just have to wait and see how the situation evolves.

There are certainly more questions than answers right now.
