Evander Kane still doesn't have an NHL team for 2026-27, and right now he's spending more energy on social media than on finding one.

No club has signed him, not even to a Professional Try-Out, and his latest fight is with a former teammate.

Kurtis Gabriel, a former AHL and NHL enforcer who played with Kane in San Jose, went public on the San Jose Hockey Now podcast with Sheng Peng.

Gabriel didn't hold back describing what it was like sharing a locker room with Kane.

"Here comes Evander, in his flip-flops, in his tracksuit," Gabriel said, describing Kane arriving late to team meetings. "When we're in suit and tie or whatever."

Gabriel said he confronted Kane directly more than once over it.

"It's disgusting to me that a player can be talented and do that routinely and still have a job," Gabriel said. "Something like that completely alters a locker room."

New allegations add another disturbing chapter to the Evander Kane saga

Kane didn't stay quiet. He posted a warning of his own on social media aimed squarely at people speaking out against him.

"I can't wait for the day I decide to share my truths," Kane wrote. "Mine will come with facts, receipts, and the actual truth."

He added there are "plenty of bombs with plenty of names attached" once he decides to respond in full.

This isn't Kane's first public spat this summer either. He already tangled with Sportsnet columnist Mark Spector before turning his attention to Gabriel.

Kane still has plenty of on-ice history worth remembering. He scored 22 goals in 43 regular season games in his first year with Edmonton back in 2022.

He followed that with 13 goals in 15 playoff games that same postseason, then played through Edmonton's 2025 Stanley Cup Final run before leaving the team.

None of that history is stopping teams from staying away this summer.

Whether Kane's next chapter happens in the NHL, in Europe, or purely on social media is still an open question nobody around the league seems eager to answer.
