Dylan Larkin's future under Todd McLellan has become a major NHL talking point after Jeff Marek identified three possible trade destinations.
Marek and Max Bultman discussed the Detroit Red Wings captain on The Sheet, naming the Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers as strong potential fits.
Seattle also entered the conversation because the Kraken have the draft capital and prospect depth required to build a serious offer. Bultman pushed back on that match, leaving the Eastern Conference clubs as the more convincing options.
This isn't a report that Detroit has placed Larkin on the trade block. But the fact that established NHL voices are openly examining destinations shows how much pressure now surrounds the Red Wings.
Detroit has spent years trying to move from rebuilding team to playoff threat. Another disappointing finish would force general manager Steve Yzerman to evaluate every path available, including one that once appeared unthinkable.

Larkin remains the player who drives Detroit's top six. He produced 34 goals and 67 points across 74 games, giving any interested club a proven centre capable of handling major minutes.
Montreal and Boston stand out in Larkin discussion
Montreal would offer an especially intriguing fit. Larkin's speed, controlled entries and ability to attack through the middle could give the Canadiens another established weapon without waiting for a younger centre to develop.
Boston's need is even easier to understand. The Bruins have been searching for a high-end centre who can push the pace, play on the power play and handle difficult matchups.
Philadelphia represents a different possibility. The Flyers could view Larkin as a veteran centre capable of supporting their younger forwards while immediately raising the ceiling of their top six.
Any negotiation would be complicated by Larkin's contract. His $8,700,000 cap hit runs through the 2030-31 season, making this far more than a short-term deadline move.
Detroit would also need a return strong enough to justify moving its captain and most established forward. Picks alone likely wouldn't satisfy a club still trying to take the next step.
The discussion has created real heat around Larkin's name, even without confirmation that talks are active. Montreal, Boston and Philadelphia now sit at the centre of a trade scenario that could reshape Detroit's direction.
