Sean Farrell's time in Montreal could be over, and the Anaheim Ducks are reportedly the team on the other end.
PuckEmpire posted the update Friday, calling it minor news, but a trade sending a player out of the organization is never nothing.
The account said it's being told the Montreal Canadiens will likely deal Farrell to Anaheim.
Farrell was a fourth round pick back in 2020, taken 124th overall by Montreal out of the US National Team Development Program.
His path since has run almost entirely through the American Hockey League, not the NHL roster.
The tweet itself is short and dry, no video, no visuals, just a flat line dropped into the timeline the way trade whispers usually start.

Farrell's AHL production tells a different story than his NHL line
At the NHL level, Farrell's entire career reads as 6 games, 1 goal, 0 assists, 1 point, all of it back in 2022-23.
That's not the number that makes this rumor interesting though.
With the Laval Rocket last season, Farrell put up 17 goals and 36 assists for 53 points in 72 games.
The year before that, he scored 24 goals and added 20 assists for 44 points in 67 games with the same club.
Two straight AHL seasons north of 40 points and still barely a sniff at the NHL level. That gap is exactly why a change of scenery gets floated.
Montreal finished 48-24-10 for 106 points this past season, sixth overall, a group with legitimate depth up front under GM Kent Hughes.
Anaheim finished well back at 43-33-6 for 92 points, 17th overall, the kind of roster spot where a player like Farrell gets an actual look.

There's something appealing about reading this as an opener rather than the whole story.
Kent Hughes has been aggressive before, and a depth move like this one has the feel of a GM clearing a lane for something louder. Nobody's confirmed a bigger domino is coming.
But if Hughes has one more surprise queued up for Montreal fans, moving Farrell quietly is exactly how you'd start.
