On Saturday, the Montreal Canadiens announced that forward Jonathan Drouin will be the 2020-21 recipient of the Jean Beliveau Trophy.
The Jean Beliveau Trophy is awarded annually to a Canadiens player for their involvement in the community. The winner receives a $25,000 donation to the charity of their choice.
In 2017, Drouin pledged $500,000 over a 10-year period through a donation of $50,000 every year to the Fondation du Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM). Prior to every season, Drouin also holds a golf tournament with the proceeds going to CHUM and its research center.
Also since 2017, Drouin has sponsored a private suite at the Bell Centre and invited underprivileged kids from all over Quebec to games throughout the season.
Congratulations to Drouin on this well deserved honour.
