After buying out the contract of Martin Jones, who failed to live up to expectations in San Jose, the Sharks acquired a pair of goaltenders in this offseason in James Reimer (UFA) and Adin Hill (via trade) in hopes of changing their luck and perhaps grinding their way back up the standings in pursuit of a playoff spot.

While Reimer, 33, will bring some veteran experience to the crease in San Jose in the form of nearly 400 NHL starts, there is a lot of intrigue around the 25-year-old Hill as a possible longer-term solution between the posts for the Sharks, despite the fact that he has played just 49 career NHL games after being drafted in the 3rd round by the Arizona Coyotes back in 2015.

Hill still has a ways to go in terms of becoming a bona-fide #1 goaltender in the National Hockey League, but he should receive a healthy opportunity in San Jose this season, so why not do it in style!?

Hill did something a little different when selecting his Sharks gear for the upcoming season. He let his little brother and his dad design his San Jose Sharks helmet, with a little help from Friedesigns in Alberta.

Hill's brother and father elected to go with a bit of a shipwreck motif, in shark infested waters, with a San Jose Sharks logo on the crown of the helmet, along with a vintage goalie mask and stick with "MM30" stamped on it on the back - a nod to former WHL goaltender Michael Maniago, who was tragically lost in a fatal car accident back in 2008 at just 20 years-of-age. Take a look at the finished product below.

Hill has worked with Friedesigns before, for his Arizona Coyotes mask. The company has also worked with other NHLers and NHL prospects, including Tristan Jarry of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Logan Thompson, of the Vegas Golden Knights and Detroit Red Wings 2021 1st-round pick Sebastian Cossa.

Hill has amassed a 19-21-4 record in his 49 appearances, all with the Arizona Coyotes. His career GAA is 2.79 and his career SV% is .909 - numbers that will certainly need to improve if Hill hopes to take the next step in his career.

With his brand new mask, maybe the phrase "look good, feel good, play good" will become a reality for the aspiring starter.
