The Calgary Flames are the latest team in the NHL to announce that they are requiring both staff and fans to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 in order to attend games this upcoming season.

This policy is expected to kick in September 15, and will also include any live events at the Saddledome. According to TSN's Salim Nadim Valji, the Calgary Stampeders will also be implementing this policy, meaning fans that want to attend their game on October 2 versus the Saskatchewan Roughriders will have to be fully vaccinated.

This decision doesn't come as a major surprise given that we have already seen some other NHL teams call for it, and it is likely even more will before the 2021-22 season kicks underway. It is seen by some as a controversial stance as some believe it takes away citizen rights, but these venues are doing everything they can to keep people safe. Simply put, if you don't want to get vaccinated that is your choice, you will just be unable to attend certain events.
