Valimaki, 22, came into last season with a ton of promise after lighting it up in the SM-liiga previously with 19 points in 19 games. Unfortunately, he struggled at times and was relegated to the press box by head coach Darryl Sutter on multiple occasions near the end of the 2020-21 season. He ended up finishing the year having played 49 games while recording two goals and 11 points.
Despite his struggles last season, Valimaki still has plenty of potential and is a big piece moving forward for the Flames. There is a good chance that missing the entire 2019-20 season due to an ACL injury played a part in the year he had, so there is a very good chance he becomes the player many are expecting in 2021-22.
