On Friday, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Rodion Amirov was in preseason action with his KHL team Salavat Yulaev Ufa, taking on Severstal Cherepovets in just their fourth preseason contest.

Early on in the third period, Amirov had taken an awkward spill into the end boards behind the Severstal net, head and shoulder first, leaving him in agony on the ice for several minutes before he was helped off the ice by trainers. Here's a video of the play:

Early Saturday, Amirov, 19, uploaded a photo on Instagram, showing himself in a sling that was also strapped around his torso. Several Russian sources are reporting a broken collarbone.

A translation of the text that appeared on the photo reads:

"I received a lot of words of support, thank you all very much for your kind words."

At this point, sources are reporting three to four weeks recovery time, which seems very low. However, Johns Hopkins Medicine states that even a fractured clavicle takes around 4 months to fully heal.

Perhaps there was a translation error in the 3-4 weeks recovery time and it was meant to say 3-4 months.

The silver lining here is that it does not appear as though the Leafs' 2020 1st-round pick (15th overall) suffered any damage to his head or neck, which was the immediate concern. Nevertheless, Amirov looks to be in line to miss some significant time.
