The Seattle Kraken have locked up one of their selections from the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. Restricted free agent defenceman Cale Fleury has signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $750,000.

"Cale is a smooth skater that has shown even at his young age to be a responsible defender that can play reliable minutes," said Seattle Kraken General Manager Ron Francis. "We like his mix of physicality and puck-moving skills. We are excited to see him develop with our organization."

Fleury, 22, spent the entire 2020-21 season in the American Hockey League with the Laval Rocket, Montreal's affiliate. In 22 games, he had six assists, two penalty minutes, and was a +9.

The Carlyle, Saskatchewan native was selected from Montreal in the expansion draft last month as mentioned. He'll be joining his older brother Haydn, who was selected from the Anaheim Ducks.
