Jets re-sign forward Andrew Copp, avoid arbitration hearing

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Winnipeg Jets have re-signed RFA forward Andrew Copp to a one-year contract worth $3.64 million. Copp was set to have a salary arbitration hearing on Thursday, August 26th.

Friedman went on to add that the 27-year-old will become an unrestricted free agent next July and will be eligible to sign an extension with the Jets as early as January 1st 2022.

The Ann Arbor, Michigan native just completed his sixth full season with Winnipeg. In 55 games during the regular season, he set career highs in points (39), goals (15), and assists (24) and added 20 penalty minutes along the way. In the playoffs, Copp had two assists in eight games as the Jets got swept by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round.
