The New York Rangers announced on Thursday that they've signed 2021 first-round pick (16th overall) Brennan Othmann to a three-year entry-level contract worth $2.775 million ($925k AAV).

Othmann, 18, spent the 2020-21 season in Switzerland's second division with Olten EHC because the Ontario Hockey League didn't run due to COVID-19. In 34 regular season games, he tallied 16 points (7 G, 9 A), 64 penalty minutes, and was a -2. Othmann is expected to return to the Flint Firebirds for the 2021-22 season.

The Pickering, Ontario native is now the sixth player from the 2021 NHL Entry Draft to have signed their entry-level contract after Fabian Lysell (Boston), Zachary L'Heureux (Nashville), Oskar Olausson (Colorado), Danila Klimovich (Vancouver), and Brandt Clarke (Los Angeles) did so in the past few weeks.
