According to Sportsnet's Mark Spector, the Edmonton Oilers have re-signed defenseman Slater Koekkoek to a new multi-year deal.

Koekkoek, 27, has reportedly agreed to terms with the Oilers on a two-year deal that will pay him $925K per season, a total of $1.85M.

The Winchester, Ontario native was a 1st-round pick back in 2012, going 10th overall to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He played just 85 games for the Lightning prior to being sent to the Chicago Blackhawks, along with a 5th-round pick, in exchange for defenseman Jan Rutta and a 7th-round pick.

Koekkoek played a pair of seasons in Chicago before signing a 1-year deal with the Oilers last offseason. He was limited to just 18 games for the Oilers last season due to suffering a broken collarbone in February after taking a big hit from then Flames forward Sam Bennett.

In 167 career NHL games, Koekkoek has tallied 8 goals and 30 points.
