Elias Pettersson remains a restricted free agent without a contract, and he recently released a statement about his desire to be on a contending team every year.

"I want to stay there now, but I also want to play for a team that's winning and has the chance to go far into the playoffs every year," said Pettersson. "If we have that chance when my next deal expires ... I don't know. I just want to play where there's a chance of winning."

"My agents do all the talking (with the Canucks), and then they inform me about what's going on. Right now, we're not in an agreement, but I'm not worried that we're not going to solve it eventually," he said.

Although some people think that he didn't seem too thrilled to remain a Canuck, his agent JP Barry doesn't think people should look into it too much.

"Do not read too much into it, he was not going to say he wants to be part of a losing organization. Elias says what he feels and he wants to win now, not later. He is excited about next year."

Canucks fans seem to have little to worry about as Pettersson's agent seems to have cleared the air quite a bit at least for the time being.
