The Boston Bruins appear poised to sign 2021 1st-round pick Fabian Lysell to an entry-level contract and bring him over to North America for the upcoming season.

The timing couldn't be better for Lysell, who would have otherwise remained in Sweden to play another season with Lulea HF in the SHL, Sweden's top men's league, starting next month.

Having Lysell, 18, in North America should fast-track him to the NHL by at least one season, with the Providence Bruins (AHL) being the likely destination for his first year of professional hockey in North America.

Lysell was, at one point this past season, ranked inside of the top-5 on some scouting lists, but slipped to the Bruins at 21st-overall, due in part to some concerns over his hockey IQ - though several scouts have stated that they don't believe there are any long-term concerns there.

Lysell registered just 3 points in 26 games in the SHL with Lulea HF last season - just one year after finishing over a point-per-game at 13 points in 11 games with Vastra Frolunda Jr. of the Swedish junior league.
