New York Rangers Affiliate Signs Fan-Favourite Former Maple Leafs Goalie

Five years after his first NHL game, fan-favorite former Toronto Maple goalie Kasimir Kaskisuo just signed with the New York Rangers' ECHL affiliate Bloomington Bison.

Kasimir Kaskisuo was a goaltender with the Toronto Marlies long before he had his NHL debut with the Maple Leafs in November of the 2019-2020 season.

Though he only played once more in the league with the Nashville Predators the following season, the 31-year-old goaltender got the attention of the New York Rangers organization.

On Friday, February fourteenth, Phillip Barski, head coach of their ECHL affiliate, announced that Kaskisuo would be joining the Bloomington Bison.

Kaskisuo played college hockey with the University of Minnesota, Duluth before making his first appearance in the AHL with Toronto, playing in two games during the 2015-2016 season.

The 6'3 netminder then spent the next few years between the AHL's Marlies and Chicago Wolves, as well as the ECHL's Orlando Sun Bears before taking two seasons in Sweden with Leksands IF.

Upon returning to North America for the 2023-24 season, he signed a one-year, one-way AHL contract for Montreal Canadiens affiliate, the Laval Rockets.

He played 13 games during that season, making 328 saves, bringing his 108-game AHL record to .909 save percentage and 2.68 goals against average.

From his time with the Orlando Sun Bears and current season appearances for the Admirals, Kaskisuo has played 36 ECHL games, with a .899 best-season save percentage.

Following two straight losses with Norfolk, hopefully a new home with the Bloomington Bison will give him the fresh start he needs to be successful.
