The Elias Pettersson sweepstakes have been a major story in the NHL this season, with many teams linked to the young star, despite Vancouver ultimately moving J.T. Miller first.
Even after the team trading Miller and acquiring the duo of Marcus Pettersson and Drew O'Connor, there has still been talks surrounding EP40, with many believing the Canucks organization would be wise to purge the team of the two stars that have created nothing but drama and negativity in 2024/25.
Now though, we have our official answer on the teams stance, with hockey reporter Cam Robinson revealing that the team have officially pulled him from the trade market with the Four Nations Face Off break now officially upon us.
With just under a month to go until the March 7th trade deadline, there remains time for their stance to change, especially if Pettersson continues to underperform, but after months of speculation, this is likely a very well calculated decision that may be final.
Since the trade of Miller, Pettersson has tallied just two assists in five games, giving him 34 points in 49 games on the season, but at 26-years of age and a 100-point season under his belt, the team clearly still believe in his potential.
At this point, we don't know any official trade offers that have been sent their way, but with the team currently sitting in the final Wild Card spot in the Western Conference, continuity is key, and if they get the very best EP40 coming out of this break, keeping him is still the best move for the franchise long-term.
