NHL Shockingly Suspends Minnesota Wild Forward 10 Games

Hockey remains one of the toughest sports on earth, and while opponents aren't meant to go easy on each other in the physicality, there's a thing to be said for not injuring them intentionally.

Unfortunately, Minnesota's Ryan Hartman ignored that recently when he slammed Ottawa Senators forward Tim Stutzle and his head into the ice off a face off, leaving the young forward bloodied and giving Hartman a match penalty.

As a result of that hearing, the NHL's Department of Player Safety has now suspended Hartman for a whopping 10-games, as they announced on social media on Monday evening.

While the charge in this case is roughing, Hartman is a repeat offender, and the NHL has likely used this against him in this case, handing down the longest suspension we've seen this season.

In recent years, Hartman has been involved in some major issues on the ice, as he has been suspended five games over the past 18 months for two separate incidents as well as a fine for high-sticking Winnipeg's Cole Perfetti, also off the face off in a very unnecessary act.

While the start of his act against Stutzle may not have been intentional, it's clear that the veteran was driving his head into the ice, with the league looking at the damage this did to Stutzle and Hartman's history as a reason to hand down the massive 10-game suspension.
