Allegheny County Police Department has provided a crucial update on the investigation into Evgeni Malkin's robbery.

The last few days have certainly been hectic for Evgeni Malkin as he and his family suffered a serious scare after their home was robbed.

Tuesday night, reports emerged that Evgeni Malkin's home has been burglarized, and that his three Stanley Cup rings were reported missing.

"During tonight's Penguins game, Evgeni Malkin's home was the target of a break-in. The thieves took several items, most notably his 3 Stanley Cup rings."

The robbery apparently took place while he was away, playing in the Penguin's home game against the Ottawa Senators last Saturday.

Making matters worse is the fact that the Penguins lost that game.

Imagine having a tough day at work only to find out that you were robbed when you get home. That's a rough day!

Luckily, it now seems as though the robbery was not as bad as initially reported.

We do not know exactly what the thief got away with, but we do know that Malkin's Stanley Cup rings are safe and secure thanks to an update from Allegheny County PD.

It is hard to say why the rings were reported as missing at the beginning of the investigation, but perhaps it is because Malkin himself forgot where they were.

After all, his home is probably fairly large and it would have taken time to check everywhere.

Furthermore, the rings would have been one of the things most likely to be stolen given their value.

Granted, it would have been essentially impossible to sell them given everyone knows they were stolen, but still.

It is good to know that some of Malkin's most cherished possessions are safe and sound at home where they belong.
