After months of speculation, the New York Rangers shockingly traded their captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks this past week in a move that completely shook up the foundations of the organization.
We've heard plenty of speculation about the relationship and other potential trades since the move of Trouba, and now Larry Brooks of the New York Post has joined the Spittin' Chiclets podcast, revealing plenty more about the situation in the Big Apple that ended up with the blcokbuster trade.
Unsurprisingly, Brooks reveals that due to the trade rumours, Trouba became detached from the playing group, revealing that after speculation in the summer before this, there was ultimately no way that the two parties could work together anymore.
Despite still being a solid player and a good leader, the team just didn't see Trouba as a fit any longer, and given the way he believes he was unfairly treated, there's no way to blame Trouba for the way things went down.
Ultimately however, the hard hitting defenseman is now an Anaheim Duck, with New York managing to dump his entire salary, with speculation now that he could be traded again to land the Ducks some assets ahead of the trade deadline.
Whether or not that happens, only time will tell, but with these reports emerging about the relationship and the way things broke down at the end, there's no doubt that players around the league will be paying attention, with potential interest in playing for the Rangers going down if this is the way a team will treat their active captain.
