The Montreal Canadiens star Patrik Laine lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in a disaster condo purchase in Columbus.

Patrik Laine's journey to become a member of the Montreal Canadiens hasn't been easy.

After a tough career start with the Winnipeg Jets, he asked for a trade and ended up moving to Columbus to play for the Blue Jackets.

He had many injuries, which limited him to 174 games between 2020 and 2024, even joining the Player Assistance Program for a few months.

Following a disastrous 18-game season in Columbus, he was finally traded to the Montreal Canadiens in return for Jordan Harris and a 2026 second-round draft pick.

This looked like a great deal for the Canadiens.

Despite what he went through, Laine, the 2016 2nd overall pick, tallies 388 points, including 208 goals, in 480 career games.

Before the start of the season, everyone seemed to agree that in Montreal, under Martin St. Louis, he could get back to his former rhythm.

When he joined the Canadiens, the player even revealed he wanted to score 40-50 goals this season.

Unfortunately, he is yet to make his Habs debut, as an injury in his second pre-season game forced him to miss the whole start of the season.

A few minutes into the first period, Laine was involved in a knee-on-knee collision with Cedric Pare:

Now, just as he nears his return, more bad news struck Laine.

Indeed, a new report revealed that Laine lost hundreds of thousands of dollars in the sale of his condo in Columbus.

Back in April, he listed his 4,031-square-foot condo on the 24th floor of the Miranova Tower in downtown Columbus for a whopping $2.75 million.

A few days ago, he sold it at $2.3 million, $450,000 less than what he initially hoped to sell it for.

The former Blue Jackets player bought the condo in 2022 for $2.475 million.

With $49,475,000 in estimated career earnings, according to Puck Pedia, there's no doubt that this loss won't affect Laine that much.

Nonetheless, after everything he went through, he didn't deserve that additional adversity.
