The New York Rangers have been off to a very solid start this season, and now a shocking report has revealed that they're shopping top star Chris Kreider.

After two losses to finish their Western road trip, the New York Rangers sit at 12-6-1 on the season, putting them among the NHL's elite at the quarter way mark of the 2024/25 campaign.

Reports have now emerged that the team would be interested in shaking up their roster, with speculation that absolutely nobody saw coming, as Elliotte Friedman has revealed the team may be interested in parting ways with Chris Kreider.

In recent years, Kreider has been one of the Rangers best players, with his net front presence and goal scoring touch being among the best in the entire NHL, but he hasn't been at his best this season, and it's caused some to believe that this may be the best course of action.

After scoring 52, 36 and 39 goals over the last three seasons, the 33-year old has 9 in 19 games this year, but with no assists and a -1 differential with the top line simply not clicking, a change could be necessary.

With two years remaining on his deal after this season with a $6.5 million salary cap, it won't be easy to move Kreider, but if a team can get the 77 or 75 point scorer from two of the past three years, it could be a deal ready to happen.

At this stage in time, it's too early to predict which teams will be in play and just how aggressively the team will shop him, but for now it's a shocking report none the less, as many believed Kreider should have been named captain, not Jacob Trouba, so we will sit back and see how this intriguing story plays out.
