Investigation Underway After Hockey Player Artem Tortochakov Passes Away in Fight Near Nightclub
37-year-old hockey player Artem Tortochakov has passed away after police say he was hit in the head multiple times during a fight outside a Russian bar.
Some tragic news to pass along from the hockey community in Russia. One hockey player is dead, and police are left to put together the pieces of what happened after a fight outside a bar earlier this week.
According to reports out of Russia, Artem Tortochakov died in a hospital following an altercation outside a bar on the night of Nov. 3. Police say he suffered a traumatic brain injury after receiving several blows to the head. His hockey club, HC Abakan Metallurg, has released a statement calling him the heart and soul of the team.
A police investigation has been launched into the death of Artem Tortochakov, and Ria Novosti reports a suspect has already been identified.
The victim was taken to the hospital; however, despite the resuscitation measures taken, it was not possible to save the man; he died in the evening of November 3."
His death comes just a couple of weeks after a former QMJHL star and hockey trailblazer tragically passed away from a brutal crime at the age of 29. Our sincere condolences to the family, friends, and teammates of Artem Tortochakov.
