The Boston Bruins have been on the wrong end of some bad calls early in the year, and now former announcer Jack Edwards has called out the officials.
Through three games this season, the Boston Bruins have picked up two solid victories, but they've done so in the eyes of many in spite of the officiating. During their victory over the Montreal Canadiens, there were several calls that stood out, but the most egregious was an overturned goal on Hampus Lindholm, with the goal coming back due to 'interference'.
One person that strong disagreed with this call was former Bruins announcer Jack Edwards, who had this to say on Reddit after the controversial call was made:
"So Primeau thrusts off his line and Brazeau goes to inside ice," wrote Edwards on Reddit. "If you draw a line to the sky from the crease, the contact comes outside the crease. Next goal Montreal is going to appeal that a Bruin had a garlic garnish on his pregame and Primeau couldn't do his job because of the Bruin's bad breath."
The veteran announcer that retired just this past year wasn't done there however, as he also called out the way that hulking defenseman Nikita Zadorov has been officiated:
"AND MONTREAL GETS ANOTHER CALL BECAUSE ZADOROV DID HIS JOB!"
It's been no secret for quite some time that the NHL have had consistency issues with their officiating, and while Edwards wasn't shy about commenting before he retired, he certainly won't have any issues with doing it now. In these two cases, it's hard to argue with the veteran announcer, and if the NHL continue to have this problem, they will need to make a huge change, especially if these missed calls begin effecting the outcome of games consistently.
