PK Subban was no stranger to physical play in his NHL career, but after Cédric Paré's ridiculous act on the ice, he has gone on a massive rant about the situation.

The pre-season injury count continues to grow in the NHL in 2024, but the worst occurred on Saturday night, with Cedric Pare pushing for a spot in the NHL by taking out star forward Patrik Laine in a seemingly intentional manner.
The play was utterly ridiculous and unnecessary from Pare, who likely isn't contending for an NHL spot with the Maple Leafs anyway, and now, former Montreal Canadien and NHL superstar PK Subban has gone on a massive rant about the situation on social media. While all analysts can sometimes get it wrong, it's clear that Subban makes a great point here, as he looks to the lack of respect for an established NHL star in Subban by a player like Pare, who must know he has very little chance to make the NHL roster in 2024/25.
«Cedric Pare, I didn't go to the game last night to watch him play. I paid admission to go watch Patrik Laine play.»

This was the line that stood out most however, as Subban made it clear that players in the pre-season that no one came to see play should not be pushing the envelope the way that Pare did in this instance, especially towards star players. Subban isn't the only former NHLer to call out this code, as former enforcer Georges Laraque did the same thing on social media shortly after the incident.
Ultimately, Pare doesn't have much of a future in the NHL, and this intentional cheap shot won't do him any favours in the future, so hopefully he learns from this and hopefully Patrik Laine can get back on the ice in the very near future.
