The Toronto Maple Leafs have a logjam of wingers looking to make up their forward group in 2024/25, and now Brad Treliving may move Calle Jarnkrok as a result.
For years now, the strength of the Toronto Maple Leafs has been their forward group, but heading into the 2024/25 campaign where they aim to be a Stanley Cup contender once more, their depth has simply never been better. In fact, they may even have a surplus of wingers with the likes of Fraser Minten, Nick Robertson and Easton Cowan pushing for spots, and now, a report has confirmed the team have placed a veteran winger on the trade block.
That report comes from David Pagnotta, who reveals that veteran winger Calle Jarnkrok has been made available via trade, with his spot on the Maple Leafs third forward line likely fading away more and more as training camp and pre-season rolls on. As of right now, Daily Faceoff list Jarnkrok as part of the forward group, but with that lineup not including veteran Max Pacioretty, it's clear that Jarnkrok's role is likely no more.
Recent reports have also revealed that Nick Robertson could still be on the way out, and this may ultimately open up a spot for Jankrok, but with two-years left on his deal at a $2.1 million AAV, he simply doesn't produce for that amount of money. It's unclear at this point which teams around the league would be interested in Jarnkrok, but with several contenders needing depth on the wing, it's safe to say he'll draw plenty of interest.
With this lineup, the Maple Leafs have their best shot in quite some time at chasing the Stanley Cup, and if they can make some moves ahead of the trade deadline, it's safe to say their fans will once again be confident in their chances.
