The Vancouver Canucks have a loaded roster heading into 2024/25, but even so, no one saw them placing two young defenseman on waivers, especially this close to the regular season with their depth already being tested.

With Quinn Hughes leading the way, the Vancouver Canucks blue line is loaded with talent, but even so, there was expected to be major competition for the bottom four spots in the lineup this season. Now, in a completely shocking turn of events, the team have now placed two talented young defenseman on waivers in a move that no one saw coming.
According to Elliotte Friedman, both Jett Woo and Guillaume Brisebois have been placed on waivers with the regular season nearing, with the team now risking the loss of two incredibly talented players.
The 24-year old Woo is yet to make his NHL debut, but has improved in two years with the Abbotsford Canucks, ending 2023/24 with a career high 7 goals and 31 points, showing that with his size (6-foot-0 and 205 pounds) and skill, he could be a defenseman of the future. As for Brisebois, he has played 27 games at the NHL level since being selected way back in 2015 by Vancouver, tallying just 1 goal and 3 points over that time, with confidence that he will pass through waivers for the team.
Regardless of what happens, this was a shocking move and a big risk by Patrik Allvin and the Vancouver Canucks, so now we will simply wait and see how this all plays out over the next 24 hours.
