The Dallas Stars are set to chase the Stanley Cup in 2024/25, but shockingly, their Head Coach has now undergone surgery with just weeks before the season begins.

This season is one of the most important in the history of the Dallas Stars franchise, and with just weeks before another chase for the Stanley Cup begins, they've been given some bad news. Reportedly, Head Coach Peter DeBoer underwent surgery to have his appendix removed, and while he will be 100% fit and ready to coach before the regular season, it's not the way that they wanted their regular season preparations to go.
According to medical experts, it takes up to a few weeks to be completely back to normal after having your appendix removed, so the timeline will seemingly have him back and ready to go. The 56-year old Ontario native joined the Stars ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, and while they've not yet gone all the way with the veteran coach, he has taken them deep in the Stanley Cup Playoffs with this exciting young core, with a Western Conference Finals appearance a year ago showing just how good this group can truly be under DeBoer.
During those two years, the Stars have a 99-42-23 record, and while plenty of that can be chalked up to the roster, it's easy to see the impact that DeBoer has had on them in such a quick time. Now, the entire team will support him as he goes through the surgery, and with their regular season kicking off in just over two weeks, they will hope he can be back behind the bench as they look to start their season with a bang in pursuit of the franchise's second ever Stanley Cup.
