Elliotte Friedman, while on the 32 Thoughts Podcast, just gave a big hint as to what Connor McDavid's future could look like after the Edmonton Oilers gave Leon Draisaitl a massive $112 million contract extension.
Friedman believes that the Draisaitl extension was negotiated with the belief that McDavid wants to stay as an Oiler and is willing to sign a contract extension when it becomes available to them.
"He knows what Connor McDavid is thinking, this is not a Leon Draisaitl negotiation, this was a Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl negotiation."
McDavid, who has become the number 1 player in the entire NHL, is expected to garner the biggest contract in NHL history. In 645 career regular season games, McDavid has accrued 335 goals and 647 assists for 982 points.
Draisaitl, who just became the highest-paid player in the NHL, has gathered 347 goals and 503 assists for 850 points in 719 games as one-half of one of the most dynamic duos in the NHL.
The two leaders for the Edmonton Oilers have grown close over the past 9 years since starting to play with each other, both on the ice and off the ice. Each man was a groomsman at each other's wedding.
