Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau's family makes a heartbreaking statement following their tragic passing

Less than 24 hours after the passing of Johnny Gaudreau, his family has released a statement regarding the tragic incident that took place.
Tragedy has hit the hockey world after news broke of the star Columbus Blue Jackets player Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau dying from a bicycle accident. The brothers were cycling when a drunk driver, Sean Higgins, struck them from behind. Both brothers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Gaudreau family has now issued a public statement regarding the horrific events that took place last night.
The charges against Sean Higgins were serious and included two counts of vehicular manslaughter while being under the influence, for which he may be imprisoned for over 20 years with an additional fine of up to $400,000.
The sad fact is that Johnny Gaudreau had been preparing to attend his sister's wedding the following day. In light of the tragedy, the wedding has been called off as the family mourns the loss.
Johnny Gaudreau had just completed an 81-game season in which he scored 12 goals and registered 60 points overall. He was about to begin his third year with the Blue Jackets when he met his unfortunate demise. His fans will truly miss him as this new season swings into action.
