The Edmonton Oilers have made some solid additions this off-season, but has it left them vulnerable to a dreaded offer sheet for Philip Broberg?

The Edmonton Oilers were one game away from a Stanley Cup in 2024, and their off-season spending thus far shows that they believe they'll be back and potentially take that final step in 2025. With all of that spending, the team find themselves right on the cusp of the salary cap, and according to Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff, it has potentially left them vulnerable to an offer sheet.

Should Edmonton be concerned about a potential offer sheet for Philip Broberg?

Frank revealed that Philip Broberg could be an interesting name to watch, as he proved his worth in the post-season, but with a veteran lineup on the blue line already, there likely isn't a top-four opportunity like the 23-year old is seeking. Sure, the numbers in the NHL aren't there yet, but he excelled when the lights were on bright, and it makes sense that he wants an expanded role.

Offer sheets still remain very rare in the NHL however, as a team would need to sacrifice significant draft capital to make it happen, but for teams that are looking. for youth and potential on the blue line, this could be a situation for them to monitor.
