Concerning update for Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins: future unknown

Today reports are coming out that provide a major update on contract talks between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Sidney Crosby that paint a worrying picture for the future.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and captain Sidney Crosby have been linked together for decades now. Heading into the 2024-25 season Sidney Crosby will be in the last year of his contract. Sources earlier this month confirmed the two sides were discussing a contract extension and that the Penguins considered it a priority.

However, in recent days a new report has revealed that the contract talks have not progressed since they began starting a worrying conversationg amongst fans.

Today a new report from Pittsburgh sports writer Dan Kingerski has provided some skepticism over the future of Sidney Crosby in Pittsburgh. According to his sources, the Sidney Crosby contract talks have not progressed as many assumed they would.

This creates a worrying conversation around Sidney Crosby. Around this same time last year these conversations were taking place in Tampa Bay with their captain Steven Stamkos. Now just a year later Steven Stamkos signed a long term contract with the Nashville Predators.

Now the same outcome is threatening to happen in Pittsburgh with the Penguins and Sidney Crosby. Of course, the Steven Stamkos situation is an anomaly compared to how these situations with prominent veteran stars go. However, it does plant the seed that Sidney Crosby could find a new home if contract talks do not improve.
