Steven Stamkos is clearly bitter about the way his relationship with the Tampa Bay Lightning ended, made evident by his latest comments directed toward the organization.

Both the Nashville Predators and Tampa Bay Lightning made headlines today as former Lightning captain Steven Stamkos signed with the Predators. The deal is for four years and carries an 8 million dollar AAV.

STEVEN STAMKOS HAS SIGNED WITH THE NASHVILLE PREDATORS 🤠

FOUR YEARS, $8M AAV FOR STAMMER TIME 😱

This will be the first time in his career Stamkos will play for a team other than the Lightning. Based on his comments made today, it sounds like this was not his first choice either. He revealed that he wanted to stay in Tampa Bay, but noted that the team did not want him back.

When I asked Steven Stamkos about when he came to the realization it wasn't going to work out to return, «You're trying to hang on to something that doesn't want to hang on to you.» #GoBolts

This is a rather damning look for Julien BriseBois and the Lightning as an organization. Here they had a player with nearly 1100 games played for their organization, with more than 1100 career points, 555 goals, two Stanley Cup Championships, was their captain for a decade, and yet they let him walk in free agency. He is still an effective player as well as he scored 40 goals and 81 points this season. He was clearly heartbroken by the move, as can be seen in his comments directed towards his fans.

Thank you Tampa ❤️❤️
I don't have the words yet .. I will soon .

It's still too early to process. Just wanted everyone to know how thankful we are for 16 years as a bolt.

My family and I are excited for the next chapter.

It is certainly an end of an era in Tampa Bay.
