The New York Rangers' defenseman Adam Fox came clean about his injury that affected his playoff performances.

To say that Fox wasn't a shadow of himself in the playoffs would be an understatement. While he contributed with an eight-assist tally and had a +5 goal differential in the Rangers' run to the Eastern Conference Finals, we're far from the 22 points he scored in the last 18 games of the regular season.

New details came to light that explain why he struggled in the playoffs.

Adam Fox got injured in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Washington Capitals.

According to the New York Post, he reaggravated an MCL strain that occurred earlier in the season during the first round against the Washington Capitals:

"Adam Fox played with a mild MCL strain in playoffs, The Post has learned."

Here's a video of Fox entering in a violent knee-on-knee collision with Nick Jensen:

After that incident, Fox wasn't the same. Without him at 100%, other players had to step up, but it wasn't enough to beat the Florida Panthers in the third round.

The Post also added that this injury doesn't usually require surgery, which is good news for the Rangers as they'll likely be able to count on Fox for the start of next season.

Do you think the New York Rangers could've beaten the Florida Panthers in the Eastern Conference Finals if Adam Fox hadn't been injured?
