The NHL's Department of Player Safety has made its ruling in the case of Jacob MacDonald of the Colorado Avalanche. MacDonald will sit for two games for his hit on Ryan Hartman of the Minnesota Wild Wednesday night.

In its ruling, which you can view below, DoPS stated MacDonald "picked" Hartman's head and made it the main point of contact, adding it was avoidable.

There was no penalty on the play. MacDonald has played just 27 games in the NHL between the Florida Panthers and Colorado. The 28-year-old defenceman has no prior suspension history in the NHL.
