Carey Price to remain out of lineup for Montreal
In his pre-game media briefing on Thursday evening, Montreal Canadiens interim head coach Dominique Ducharme announced that goaltender Carey Price would remain out of the lineup until some point next week as he continues to deal with a lower-body injury.
Ducharme added that Price's injury got a little worse, and they want to play it safe. He won't be on the ice for the next few days, and he's going to get some rest.
With Price's extended absence, Ducharme said that top goaltending prospect Cayden Primeau will likely see some game action soon. Primeau was called up on Tuesday morning, and was the backup in Wednesday night's loss against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Canadiens went with Jake Allen on Thursday for a second straight night, this time against the Winnipeg Jets. Allen will also likely get the start against the Jets on Saturday night.
It's unclear as to what game Price will return to, but the Habs have four games in six nights next week, all at the Bell Centre. Monday against Toronto, Wednesday and Friday against Calgary, and Saturday against Ottawa before they head out west for a five-game road trip.
In 23 games this season, Price has a record of 12-6-5, a 2.66 G.A.A., a .903 save percentage, and 1 shutout.
