TJ Oshie of the Washington Capitals had to deal with a terrible and debilitating injury in game 4 of his team's first-round series against the New York Rangers

It's not uncommon for NHL players to leave everything on the ice in their pursuit of the Stanley Cup. And even when team's are given little chance to defeat their playoff opponents, players will still give it their all for a chance to move on. We're now learning that TJ Oshie of the Washington Capitals did just that.

After squeaking into the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs at the end of the regular season, the Washington Capitals were swept in their first-round series against the President's Trophy winning New York Rangers. It was revealed after that TJ Oshie, known for his passion and heart, played through game 4 with a broken hand.

"TJ Oshie playing through a broken hand tonight is a very Oshie thing to do. Very few players are as tough; play with the heart/ passion that he does.

Not lost on me that he took a little extra time leaving ice tonight. Dealt with another brutal season of injuries. Caps legend."

In true warrior fashion, Oshie didn't mention the injury. It was teammate Ryan Strome that spilled the beans in an interview after the game 4 loss. Strome praised Oshie as one of the toughest hockey players he's ever played with.

"He's a warrior, no other way to describe it. He's one of the best teammates I've ever had over these two years. Just the things he needs to do to get his body ready for a hockey game, you guys would be stunned if you saw it."

"If it is his last game, he's a hell of a warrior, hell of a guy. Everything you can ask for in a teammate. Guy puts his heart and soul on the line each shift. Played today with a broken hand."

As for the comment regarding Oshie's last game, Strome response was to the question asked by a reporter. There are rumours that Oshie, 37, is considering retirement. Strome didn't deny the rumour, but didn't exactly confirm it either.
