Shaquille O'Neal fires shots at Bobby Ryan after controversy

Bobby Ryan recently set social media ablaze with his outdated takes on women's sports, and now Shaquille O'Neal has fired back at him.

Women's sports have been gaining plenty of momentum in recent times with the emergence of soccer, the PWHL and both the WNBA and NCAA Women's Basketball among others as viable, enjoyable alternatives for fans. Right now, it's the record-setting Caitlin Clark that has gained plenty of hype, with other stars making women's sports fantastic for many to watch.

Unfortunately, former hockey star Bobby Ryan recently had his say, claiming that no one cared about women's sports, challenging people on social media to name any players in the current NCAA Women's March Madness tournament.

Unsurprisingly, the idiotic take was called out by many on social media, and now, NBA icon Shaquille O'Neal has had his say, echoing what many all over social media responded to Ryan.

The boys suck, but I'm definitely following the girls... I don't think I even know any men's (players)

With the PWHL gaining plenty of momentum and selling out arenas, it's clear that women's sports is healthier right now than its ever been, and hopefully all of this will force people like Ryan to keep their stupid remarks off of social media. It's likely not going to change Ryan's stance, as many former players are set in their ways, but with Clark and the Iowa basketball team setting viewership records and many women headlining sports highlight shows, it's clear that women's sports is better than ever. So hopefully more former players side with O'Neal's point of view, rather than Ryan.
